Why Celiac Family Exists
Celiac Family grew out of our family's experience raising our daughter, Sienna.
Sienna came into the world at just 23 weeks, weighing only 1 pound. She spent 146 days in the NICU, and our family learned very early what it means to advocate for your child, ask questions, learn complicated medical information, and navigate a world that can sometimes feel overwhelming as a parent.
Sienna grew into a happy, strong little girl, but our family's journey did not end when we left the NICU.
At 5 years old, Sienna was diagnosed with celiac disease.
That diagnosis brought a whole new set of questions and challenges. We suddenly had to learn about gluten, cross-contact, food labels, restaurants, school, birthday parties, snacks, and how to help a young child understand why she could not eat the same things as everyone else.
As parents, we wanted more than a list of foods to avoid.
We wanted Sienna to grow up feeling confident.
We wanted her to understand her diagnosis, learn how to speak up for herself, and know that living gluten-free does not have to mean missing out on being a kid.
And as we began navigating this new chapter, we realized that many other families were facing the same questions.
That's why we created Celiac Family.
Celiac Family is built around a simple goal:
Helping families raise confident gluten-free kids.
We share practical resources for parents and kid-friendly information to help families understand celiac disease and make everyday gluten-free life a little easier.
Our family's experience with Sienna has taught us that parents don't need more information thrown at them. They need information they can actually understand, trust, and use.
That's what we want Celiac Family to provide.
